Depression is a mental health condition where a person can feel persistently sad or demotivated. This can co-exist with other symptoms that can require professional intervention.
The experience of depression or any other mental health disorder differs from person to person. My experience included feeling sad, lonely and having thoughts of self-harm.
The diagnosis of depression that my therapist followed was the use of questionnaires, questions about my health history and family history.
My journey with depression involved episodes of relapse, finally, I found that a balance between non-pharmacological and pharmacological options was helpful.
