Marina Diamandis Opens Up About Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
The Primadonna girl has been diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as chronic fatigue syndrome. The condition is a complex neurological disorder that has affected millions of people around the world.
The singer-songwriter from Wales announced the diagnosis through social media, describing her journey with the condition. She said, “The last 7 years have consisted of relying on adrenaline and willpower to push me through each day.”
Also informed her fans of her struggle “My baseline energy has been at 50-60% for a long time.” She continued, “I’ve had symptoms like deep fatigue, numbness, tingling, low appetite, brain fog, rashes, insomnia, and a feeling of being poisoned….”
The singer further explained that she has been undergoing recovery for the past two months. She had an episode of chronic pain all over her “hands, legs, and back” before the flare-up. She also described feeling a burning sensation and pain, typical symptoms associated with the condition.
As described by the singer, this was one of the worst symptoms that was experienced by her, despite getting the warning signs. The condition has been characterized by fatigue, unrefreshing sleep, muscle or joint pain, and extreme exhaustion after physical/mental exercise.
The 37-year-old singer revealed that she has not been feeling her best for several years, with constant struggles in regaining energy. The singer was in a ‘few periods of remission’ accompanied by her relying on willpower and adrenaline to “push through each day.”
The singer is seeking professional help from a medical practitioner after failed efforts to find the root cause of her dwindling health condition. Singer finally revealed that she had been in a similar situation which worsened her health due to a “hypersensitive nervous system.”
The condition is usually observed when a person is exposed to chronic stress for a prolonged time.
